Infinity Swimming Pools
An infinity pool, also known as a vanishing edge or negative edge pool, is a type of swimming pool designed to create the visual illusion that the water extends seamlessly into the horizon. One or more edges are built slightly lower than the rest of the pool, allowing water to spill over into a hidden catch basin before being filtered and recirculated.
This design removes the visible pool boundary, making it appear as though the water merges with the surrounding landscape, sky, or sea. Infinity pools are especially popular on sloping sites, coastal properties, and luxury homes where views can be maximised to dramatic effect.
How Does an Infinity Pool Work?
The signature feature is the “vanishing edge.” One side of the pool is constructed slightly lower than the others, allowing water to gently spill over into a hidden catch basin pool below. The water is then filtered and pumped back into the main pool, maintaining a constant level and smooth, mirror-like surface.
This precise system ensures the overflow effect remains consistent while delivering the highest standards of performance and efficiency.
